At every step of your countertop project, we prioritize clarity and collaboration to ensure your vision comes to life. From the moment you bring in your project plans for an estimate to the final installation of your stunning new countertops, our dedicated team is here to guide you. We’ll work closely with you to understand your needs, help you choose the perfect materials, and manage the intricate details of measurement, fabrication, and installation. Together, we’ll create a seamless experience that not only meets your expectations but exceeds them. Let’s get started!
Start by bringing in a hand drawing or detailed plan of your project for a preliminary quote. We’ll provide a final price after measuring your project and addressing any outstanding questions or details.
We follow the following steps when quoting an estimate:
Calculating Square Footage: We begin by calculating the square footage based on the measurements or plans you provide. This initial assessment helps us estimate material costs accurately.
Material Selection: We’ll discuss various material options with you, including granite, quartz, marble, and other stone types. Each material has its own costs, durability, and aesthetic qualities, all of which can impact the overall price. We’re happy to provide different estimates based on your selected stone options, helping you understand how your choices influence the project cost.
Edge Profile: You’ll select the edge profile for your countertop, with options ranging from straight and beveled to bullnose, mitered, or more decorative edges. Each profile not only changes the look but can also affect the cost of the countertop.
Backsplash Options: You can choose between a 4-inch backsplash, a full backsplash, or tile backsplash options. Each choice impacts the materials needed and the overall price. We’re here to explain the benefits of each option, helping you make an informed decision while considering aesthetics, maintenance, and design flexibility.
Cut-Outs: We’ll take note of any required cut-outs for sinks or cooktops, paying special attention to polished under-mount sink cut-outs, which require extra labor and precision.
Hang Sink to the Stone (Under-Mount): For under-mount sinks, we’ll detail how we secure the sink to the stone, utilizing specific installation techniques to ensure a clean and seamless look.
Project Location: We also take the project location into account. An additional fee applies for jobs more than 25 miles away or for those located in New York City due to the unique challenges and circumstances of working in the city. Projects in these areas may require longer travel times, coordination with city regulations, and navigation through traffic, all of which can impact our scheduling and efficiency.
Once we’ve completed all these steps, we compile the information to provide you with a comprehensive quote, ensuring transparency and clarity regarding the costs associated with your countertop project.
After you receive your estimate, we invite you to explore our indoor slab yard, which features a wide selection of colors and patterns. Feel free to bring along paint chips, fabric swatches, and samples of flooring and cabinets to help you choose the perfect stone. Just a quick reminder; please be cautious while walking around the slab yard, and for your safety, do not attempt to move any slabs.
We take pride in maintaining a consistent selection by sourcing our stones from specific lots or blocks. This practice ensures that the front slab accurately reflects the natural characteristics and unique qualities of the entire bundle of slabs. Think of it like slicing a loaf of bread—each slab is cut from a larger block and packaged together. This method eliminates concerns about the appearance of additional slabs you may need for your project, ensuring a cohesive and harmonious look throughout.
The measurement and template process is crucial for achieving the perfect fit for your kitchen or bathroom countertops. We create a full-size template that serves as an exact pattern, clearly indicating seams, cutouts, edges, backsplashes, radius, faucet holes, and more. All estimates must be confirmed through an on-site measurement, and the final project cost will be determined after our Measurement/Template team visits your location to take precise measurements and prepare the template.
To help avoid any inconvenience, please share all necessary details with our Template Team, including overhang specifications, edge details, and any other relevant information.
It’s important to note that templating and measuring should occur only after your cabinets or framing materials, like a farm sink, are fully installed, leveled, and securely in place.
Additionally, a person of authority—such as the homeowner, designer, or contractor—must review and sign off on all templates before we begin fabrication. Please remember that all deposits are non-refundable once fabrication has started.
Fabrication begins once we have all approved templates, the layout is finalized, and the material color is selected. Our skilled craftsmen will cut the stone to the specified dimensions, shape the edges to your desired profile, and create all necessary cut-outs for sinks, cooktops, and faucets. We provide a timeline for the fabrication process, which may vary depending on the material type and design complexity. Our dedicated team works efficiently to deliver high-quality results, bringing your vision to life.
Before installation, we collect the balance of the contract amount to ensure that all financial arrangements are in order. This step allows us to begin the installation process smoothly and helps avoid any potential fees for late payments. We want you to feel secure and confident in our partnership, so please rest assured that our contract binds us to complete any outstanding work and address any concerns you may have. We take pride in our guarantee policy, which reinforces our commitment to your satisfaction throughout the project.
Once fabrication is complete and the balance is settled, we schedule the installation of your countertops. Our skilled team carefully places each piece, ensuring everything is level and making any final adjustments as needed. We also take care of finishing touches, including sealing the stone and installing the backsplash. Most home installations typically take anywhere from a couple of hours to a full business day. While some dust may be generated during the process, most cutting and polishing is done at our facility, minimizing disruption in your home.
Your satisfaction is our priority, and we value your input. The lead installer will review the finished job with you, address any questions, and collect the final balance due.
On the Day of Installation:
Every project we undertake is custom from start to finish, and we strive to ensure your complete satisfaction.
In short, yes! Seams are necessary for a variety of reasons, including the layout of your project relative to the size of the slab, access to the job site and work area, the weight of the material (as there’s a practical limit to how much can be safely carried and handled), and to minimize waste during fabrication, helping to keep costs reasonable. The fabricator will determine the best seam placement based on these factors. We offer our customers the opportunity to come in for a layout session, where we can discuss how to cut the stones to arrange patterns and determine seam placement. Additionally, we use custom colors in the seams to make them as discreet as possible and blend seamlessly with the overall design.
We understand that sometimes changes may be necessary. If we haven’t yet cut your stone, we will do our best to accommodate any reasonable changes. However, once production has begun and the stone has been cut, we are unable to make any changes to your order. It’s best to finalize your selections before the cutting process begins, which typically occurs right after the templating or layout stage. However, if you have any concerns before this step, please don’t hesitate to contact our team, and we’ll do our best to assist you.
If you purchased your cabinets from us, we will already have your measurements and kitchen design in 3D, allowing us to create a detailed preview that includes your selected countertop material. This enables us to provide an accurate representation of how everything will come together. However, if you’ve finalized your cabinetry selections through another supplier, we won’t be able to assist with a preview, as we would not have the measurements or design details for your space.
Yes, we do offer countertop removal and disposal services. Our team can carefully remove your old countertops during the template and measurement process. Please inform us in advance if you would like this service, as it will be included as an additional charge in your estimated quote. We will ensure the process is handled efficiently and responsibly, taking care of the removal and proper disposal of your old countertops.
